Default A Question for ppl in Brazil

Dudes,
am from India..recently heard a REALLY sad piece of news..a Tiger sanctuary is no longer a sanctuary because a set of poachers over the last 2 years have wiped out 90% of tigers there..the scam is so huge that a minister in central Govt kept on protecting them..coz he was getting kickbacks...well he aint a minister no more and the poachers are behind bars serving 7 year sentence...
However, the damage is done!!! Sariska's remaing tigers cannot breed and it may never recover..

My point is, I hear the Brazillian Govt alongside the farmers and timber lobby are busy bulldozing millions of acres of the rain forests for creating farming communities...and timber outposts...
The scale of this environmental Genocide seems MASSIVE!!!!
Is there something going on there to HALT this or is 'people over nature' thing
taking precedence over ALL NATURE?? Is there any hope??

My post mite sound speculative....but as gamers..lets try 2 see if we can bring a little good-over-evil crusade into the real world as well!!!

All Hail
Balrog

McDonalds just needs to start selling tiger burgers and there will be a few hundred million tigers bred in no-time.

I don't see the OP mentioning that at all.

And yes, I do feel that this mindless bulldozing isn't doing any good for humanity. It won't be long until we're a completely mechanized world, with little to no natural beauty left.

Pretty damn depressing stuff

Just try and enjoy the beauty we do have left and if you're a real downer then realize it's probably not going to happen in our life time -.-

It's not me as much as the future generations I'm really concerned about. It's a shame that the current generational tune is selfishness, and that many times, we don't see the repercussions of our actions 2, even sometimes 1 generation in the future. Even though a good message of conservation is growing, the moneymakers and big businesses keep doing their thing, not considering the future.

It's pretty much the same across the board. Oil resources becoming finite, but no real measures being taken to find alternative, safer sources, as well as population booms with little to no plans being made on how to work past when earth reaches its max capacity (because it will )

Shortsightedness, in my opinion, is no reason to claim ignorance.

The REASON why OIL is being touted as it is because of the WORLDWIDE powerful Oil Lobby.
They're everywhere. I read SO many inventions on alternative fuels but somehow, they've all seem ot have disappeared. I read sometime back, that a Professor in an IIT (here in india) had developed a hydrogen based auto-rickshaw(a third world transportation medium)...looked remarkable..and know IITs reputation..it was hardly a publicity stunt..suddenly..poof..all gone..no reports ..nothing on the web!!!!

Ironically, its the target of my post(Brazil) that seems to have found an alternative solution to the oil crises without caving in tot he unscrupulous oil lobby!!!(u guys run on an extract of molasses if im not mistaken ??)
